Clever Animal Crossing Player Creates Impressive Volcano on Their Island

An imaginative Animal Crossing: New Horizons player manages to create a volcano that looks like it's in the middle of erupting.

An innovative Animal Crossing: New Horizons player shows off the impressive-looking volcano they built on their island. The volcano was created using one of Animal Crossing's most unique decorative features, plus some rare DIY items.

For fans of the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons brought a host of new features that have never been done before in the franchise. One of those new features is the Island Designer app that the player downloads to their NookPhone. This app lets players terraform their islands, allowing them to modify every cliff, river, and path on their land.

Reddit user Kittytruck used the island designer app to help create a creative-looking volcano on their island. The basic form of the volcano was created by eroding specific cliffs on each level, and the floating rock in the middle of the volcano is an asteroid, which can be obtained by getting a DIY recipe from one of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' rarest villagers, Celeste. The asteroid is perfect for the angle that this picture is taken, as it sells the effect of lava running down to the surface.

Of course, the first question most players will ask when seeing this volcano is about the lava, and how exactly it was made. According to Kittytruck, the lava effect is thanks to a series of well-placed Frozen Partitions. Frozen Partitions can be obtained by talking to Snowboys, or players can make these items themselves using one of Animal Crossing: New Horizons winter DIY's which will cost them one large snowflake and six regular snowflakes. Frozen Partitions will appear white at first but can be customized with other colors, like red, for this volcano. The giant rocks that form the illusion of a volcano are called "Tall Garden Rocks" and can be created with another DIY that will cost 60 stones each. The lava below the volcano is a custom ground creation thanks to the Island Designer app.

Many of the best Animal Crossing: New Horizons creations are indoor designs, but there's still a lot of creativity found outdoors, like this volcano. In the comments for this post, this design is getting a warm reception, with most fans impressed to see such creativity. One commenter pointed out that the Frozen Partitions can be customized to be almost any color, and by changing them to blue, this volcano can become an amazing-looking waterfall as well. It's this type of creative forethought that makes Animal Crossing fans keep returning to their islands.
